| Longevity: To Live is to Give |
| This interactive six week course will explore generosity as a factor affecting long
life, health, and happiness for older adults. Based on weekly readings and personal, reflection, we
will focus our class discussion on the book by Stephen Post, Ph.D., Why Good Things Happen to Good
People, and further investigate the Ten Ways of Giving.

| Embracing Your Creative Spirit |
| According to the artist and author Sark, “we are all artists of life.” In this
course you will discover your own inner artist and trace your artistic life journey. You will also
try new techniques to increase your creativity using whatever medium you like: drawing, painting or
photography. This three week workshop is based upon the book, Sark’s New Creative Companion. How
to Free Your Creative Spirit by Sark.

| Opening Your Parachute in Retirement |
| This course is designed for people of any age who are unemployed or retired and
want to make this stage of life more meaningful as well as financially secure. It is also for
anyone who wonders if they are ready to retire. Using John E. Nelson’s book, What Color is Your
Parachute as the point of departure, we will read and discuss ideas about happiness, prosperity and
health as the three areas to consider in deciding what we want to do with the rest of our lives.

| The History of the Chicago “L” (an ‘ell of a transit system) |
| The Chicago “L” has been running 24/7 for 116 years. This course will review its
colorful history and how it contributed to the growth and development of the Chicagoland area. We
will discuss everything from the robber barons who built the original lines to the CTA that
struggles to make it work today. We will also discus the lighter side of the “L”...how it inspires
artists, photographers, and writers, and how the “L” is portrayed in the movies.
